1. A higher water bill
If your usage has not changed but the bill keeps rising, water may be escaping somewhere.
2. Stains or bubbling paint
Damp patches, yellow stains or paint that bubbles and peels are classic signs of water behind the wall.
3. A musty smell
Constant humidity creates mould, which you often smell before you see it.
4. The meter moves when taps are off
Close every tap and check the water meter. If it still moves, there is a leak.
5. Warm spots on the floor
A leaking hot-water pipe under tiles can make parts of the floor feel warm.
